      <image:title>Home - “Dear Friend,</image:title>
<image:caption>I am very pleased to be the Patron of the ‘Friends of St Martin’s, Gospel Oak’ (charity no. 1192518)—a landmark church of great architectural beauty and a much-loved venue in our part of Kentish Town. Situated on Vicar’s Road, St Martin’s parish church is a Grade-1 listed building and can be clearly seen from the viewing point on Parliament Hill. It is one of the principal surviving works of Edward Buckton Lamb, one of the imaginative and challenging ‘rogue’ nineteenth-century architects. Nikolaus Pevsner describes St Martin’s as ‘the craziest of London’s Victorian churches’. This building was built between 1864-66 and has been a place of beauty, prayer and stability for over one hundred and fifty years. Through the many changes this community has seen, it has remained at the heart of local life. It is a venue for music, drama, spoken word and community outreach, offering a warm welcome to all. Like every building of its age and style, St Martin’s requires constant care and attention. If you would like to be involved in supporting this wonderful building, securing it as a resource for the coming years, we would be most very pleased to welcome you as a member of the ‘Friends of St Martin’s, Gospel Oak’." - Sir Michael Palin</image:caption>
